Wouldn't this undermine our social and Church understanding of culpability and free choice?

I don’t think this news story changes much in the real world, Eric. The reason why is because this scientific observation is only in the beginning stage, a preliminary to studying a phenomenon which may ultimately involve many factors beyond genetics; the possibility of this is mentioned in the story itself. So far the only thing demonstrated is a possible statistical correlation, which may suggest some kind of influence in one direction or the other, but proves nothing. The experiment has not even been tested by other scientists to determine whether the methodology is valid.

I see in a thread elsewhere on the forum that you suffer from OCD. This would explain your difficulty in seeing the non-obligatory nature of the preliminary results of research.
