Does anyone have advice on how to go about finding a spiritual director? I am a relatively new Catholic and tried seeing my priest who brought me into the Church but it didn't quite work out.
Do I just ask around? Email the Bishop's office?
Thank you in advance.

First of all, welcome to CHN. We're glad to have you join us.
If there is a priest you like, ask him. You don't need to ask him to be your spiritual director, but you can ask him for suggestions.
Check a local retreat center. They will often have spiritual directors available. There are two sponsored by your diocese (St. Therese and Saints Peter and Paul), and there may be others.
Check with a convent or abbey in your area.
Contact a parish staffed by priests who are members of religious orders. You can usually tell by the initials after their names. (TOR, Franciscans; OSB, Benedictines; etc.)
Check with your diocese. Preferably ask people you know for suggestions. Your diocesan web site is http://www.colsdioc.org/.
You can also ask your RCIA team members, RCIA coordinator, pastoral associate, or other parish workers, especially if they are religious (nuns, brothers).
I don't know how far you are from Steubenville, but Franciscan University would certainly be a good place to look.
Finally, others on this forum may have suggestions. 9 of our members are from Ohio, including three who work full-time for CHN. If you prefer, you can call CHN in Zanesville at 800-664-5110.

Thank you, I hadn't thought of some of those options.

Hello,
Please excuse my ignorance. What is the difference between the Priest at the Parish that you attend and a Spiritual Director?
Thanks,
Terri

A Spiritual Director is a person who is willing and able to meet with you and assist you in increasing your spirituality. It may or may not be your parish priest.
Spiritual Directors have training in that field. They may be priests, religious brothers or sisters, or even lay people. If a priest, he may be your parish priest or not, and may be your confessor or not.
You will establish a relationship with your Spiritual Director unlike any other. You will reveal the deepest, darkest secrets and doubts in your relationship with God, so it has to be someone you trust and are willing to completely open your heart and soul to. It is possible to choose a Spiritual Director and later decide that the relationship is not working, and move to another.
Many people are content with their spirituality, but many others have impediments to overcome, or otherwise seek to deepen their relationship with God, and that's where a Spiritual Director comes in.
Every seminarian and candidate for the diaconate must choose a Spiritual Director, and every priest and deacon is required to meet with his Spiritual Director regularly. They will also choose a confessor who may or may not be the same. Even the pope has a confessor and a Spiritual Director.
