How do I know if God is purging me or Satan is sifting me?  Do I have to be in emotional pain the rest of my life to prove I love God?

I've always given up my desires to please others because I thought it was the right thing to do, but I just don't think I can give this up and still love.  I'm in so much pain.

I'm sorry you are hurting.  I don't know your situation, obviously, so take with a grain of salt if it doesn't apply.

God does want us to be happy.  I believe that to my core.  It is good and generous of us to put other people first, we have Christ's example to follow after all.  We can be persecuted, of course, but joy and light should be the end result.

Other people may not be on the same page we are IRT giving and loving.  Some people are selfish in their own desires and cannot see how that is hurtful to those around them.

It is ok for you to stop giving to those people.

It is ok for you to say No.

It is ok for you to protect yourself from further hurt and distance yourself from the continual selfishness of people.

You do deserve that.

You matter, too.

Much love and prayers for you,
Ali

Thank you.

I just had a moment of terrible weakness.  David, I'll be ok.

Love, Laura
