| When I am praying along with Mother Angelica from a CD I bought from EWTN, must I pray the whole Rosary out loud or only the partisipants part. When Mother prays on TV, she say's the beginning of the prayer followed by everyone else completing prayer. Is it OK to listen to the leader (MOTHER ANGELICA) and then complete out loud with the nuns, or must I say it all out loud? I'm a bit confused here.

This is indeed a confusing situation since a recording is not really a live person participating with you in prayer. In this sense it is more like praying rote prayers from a book. While in a live group the responsory prayer (alternating parts) is the usual method, I believe I would opt for saying both parts of the responsory.

Thanks David for your input. What I like about the alternating prayer is I can reflect on each mystery more attentively. It's not like I can't when I pray the entire prayer out loud; it just gives me more time in between to contemplate each mystery. I find myself following the leaders part in my head, but I can also give more attention to the mysteries. It's hard for me
to walk and chew gum at the same time. I guess I have said many incomplete Rosaries over the past few months. I hope this is not so.

I wouldn’t fret over it. There is no single “correct” way to pray the rosary, and I’m only giving an opinion here. If you are “following along” with the rest of it and managing to reflect on the mystery (ultimately the heart of the rosary), then you are probably pleasing God anyway.
It's hard for me to walk and chew gum at the same time.
Yea, verily. This is why I prefer not to use an aid such as your CD. It’s fine for learning the prayers, but it does not allow me the freedom to approach God directly. Again, such an aid may give a sense of communion with others (a false sense, I would say — but you do not have to accept my point of view), but in the end you are the one praying. Listening to the recording locks you into a rhythm, which may or may not suit your individual prayer. Praying without it gives you the freedom to pause and consider whenever you see the need. Since my mind is of the single track variety, I find that I prefer to avoid the distraction of having to keep up with an external rhythm.
Blessings, Faithful.
David

| Wow! and again wow! What a blessing it was to listen to Donna Cori Gibson sing the rosary. I have never heard the rosary sung before, I don't know how she had the breath to sing that long, except for grace. I had to run get a tissue because it was so moving and sweet. Thank you for sharing, I've added it to my "favorite" list.

I had the same reaction as you did but since I'm a guy - I did'nt want to admt it.
But I think the tears were from the Holy Sririt especally during the mercy prayer at the end of each decade.
God Bless,
Bill

I think it's the same thing I feel when I read Laura's posts now.
Both women have been filled with grace.
There is a purity, a beauty, an absence of self-consciousness that allows
Christ to radiate.
It chokes me up.
Order the CD here.
