Dear CHN Family,
I have had a deep longing to pray a Novena for my husband that the Lord will make him open to my Catholic journey of faith, and that he too, will be open to the beauty of the Catholic faith. What Novena would be especially helpful for a request such as this?
Thanks for all of your love and support. I look forward to your comments.
Darlene

If it were me, I would pick a saint that had something in common with your husband or was patron saint of something he cared about. For example, my husband works in a box factory so I pray to St. Fiacre, patron saint of boxmakers, about him. St Thomas is his patron so I talk to him too and since he worries a lot about finances and supporting 4, almost 5 kids, I pray to St Matthew. Since we are both becoming Benedictine Oblates there is also St Benedict. Not knowing your husband it is hard for me to suggest someone.
I never would have believed a novena would do anything dramatic but after trying to get pregnant for 8 months with no success, I made a novena to St Gerard and before it was done I found out I was pregnant. Coincidence? Didn't seem like it, hadn't done anything else I hadn't done every other month.

Becky,
My husband is a brick mason by trade although he practices his trade only occasionally, usually if a friend asks for a new brick walkway, or someone needs a footer. Anyway, he is currently self-employed as the owner and operator of a steam cleaning company. So is cleanliness next to godliness like my atheist Grandma used to say? Rhetorical question there.
Speaking of answers to prayer, two months ago I had an answer to prayer after two days of praying a Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. I wanted direction regarding my vocation and work. After praying this Novena from St. Margaret Mary to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, my prayer was answered. Amazingly, immediately after I said "Amen" the phone rang. And it was the answer to my prayer. The company with which I had interviewed one month earlier wanted to hire me. Now how's that for answered prayer with precise timing? Perhaps I should pray the same Novena for my husband.
Thanks for your input Becky. Anyone else have any ideas out there?
Darlene
