First Day of Devine Mercy Novena April 6, 2007

Today Bring to Me

All Mankind, Especially all Sinners,

and immerse them in the ocean of my mercy. In this way you will console Me in the bitter grief into which the loss of the souls plunges Me.

Most Merciful Jesus, Whose very nature it is to have compassion on us and to forgive us, do not look upon our sins but upon our trust which we place in Your infinite goodness. Receive us all into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart, and never let us escape from it. We big this of You by Your love which unites you to the Father and the Holy Spirit.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon all mankind of especially upon poor sinners, all enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. For the sake of His sorrowful Passion show us Your mercy, that we may praise the omnipotence of Your mercy for ever and ever. Amen

You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and an ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fount of Life, unfathomable Devine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty yourself out upon us. (Diary 1319)

O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in You! (Diary 84)

Begin with:

The Our Father or Lords Prayer

Our Father, whol art in heaven,

hollowed be thy name.

Thy Kingdom come.

Thy will be done on earth

as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us,

and lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil. Amen

Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace,

the Lord is with thee.

Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit

of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God,

pray for us sinners,

Now and at the hour of our death. Amen

The Apostle's Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.

He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit

and born of the Virgin Mary.

He suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried.

He descended into hell.

On the third day he rose again.

He ascended into heaven

and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the Holy catholic Church,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and life everlasting. Amen

On the Large bead before each decade:

Eternal Father,

I offer You the Body and Blood

Soul and Divinity of your dearly beloved Son,

Our Lord Jesus Christ,

in atonement for our sins,

and those of the whole world.

On the ten small beads of each decade, say
:

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion,

have mercy on us

and on the whole world.

When you get to the next large bead, Repeat the Eternal Father prayer and on the next ten small beads the For the sake of his sorrowful passion Prayer.

After you conclude all five decades, Pray:by repeating three times in a row

Holy God,

Holy Mighty One,

Holy Immortal One,

have mercy on us

and on the whole world.

Closing Prayer: Prayed Once

Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless

and the treasury of compassion-inexhaustible,

look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us,

that in difficult moments we might not despair

nor become despondent,

but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself. (Diary 950)

There is a recomendation to pray the chaplet or Novena prayers at the hour of Mercy daily. If your working or what ever life's demands calls of you, It can be prayed at any time of the day that you decide. I'll be praying here daily at 3 PM.

Another fun thing I do when I have to be somewhere other than home is set the alarm on my cell phone to 3 PM to Vibrate, And then I say a few for the Sake of his sorrowful passion and just remind my self of the divine mercy and our saviors death on the cross.  It just re focuses my mind on our Lord.

Thank You for joining us

My Novena will be dedicated and offered for my Precious Son who passed on June 21 2002

May the peace of Christ be with you all

Betty

Hello Elizabeth

Thank You so much for joining me, Our world can truly use some divine mercy at any time and expecially now.

Thank You for your concern, He was a wonderful son.

My day worked out so exciting, I'm not normally able to be down at the church much, I went down to paricipate in the Stations and go to confession today.  I was able to pray the stations with everyone, as soon as we were done praying, It was my turn in the confessional, Then I went back to my seat, everone else was leaving and there were just a few people still praying.  I got my rosary out to Pray my first Chaplet of the Novena as it was just after 3pm, As soon as I knelt, I man in the back of the church spoke loudly and said he was going to lead us on in the Chaplet.  (I had no idea he was going to do that)  It was a beautiful day everything worked out so smooth and nicely, So I came home and took my dog for a walk so I could contemplate the last seven words and walk all by myself in the sunshine.  I came home from my walk, Hubby had dinner on and asked me if I wanted to watch the Passion with him.  I so love when my entire day is surounded around Jesus.  It was just a perfect day.

I'm so happy for you Elizabeth, I'll be adding your intentions to my Rosary tonight.  I pray that tomorrow is such a special day for you and all the new comers.  What a glorious day indeed.

God Bless, Sweet dreams, You'll be on my mind tomorrow night.

Betty

Dear Betty, I have to tell you somthing you might find amusing.  I have the Divine Mercy Chaplet on CD; it's the same one that's sung on EWTN.  I had to go out and run some errands and was singing and praying right along in front of the dry cleaners.  When I didn't get out of the car, someone came out, opened my car door, and asked if I was all right.  They thought I was passed out or something worse!  I replied that I was fine, just praying.  I went in to get my husband's suit when the Chaplet was done.

The next time I pray the Chaplet, I'll think twice before saying it in the parking lot of a business!

Thank you very much for your well-wishes.  In three hours it starts.  Home at last, thanks be to our Lord Jesus Christ.

Elizabeth

Hello Elizabeth

Did that startle you a bit??  I think that it would of scared me.  LOL!

Well I guess there are still people around that care and are concerned for others.

Cute story.

PS:  Is your Singing Chaplet the one that's played daily on EWTN or the weekend one?

I love them both, but have a certain fondness for the one played on the weekend.

God Bless, thank you for sharing.  WELCOME HOME!

Betty
