Question: I am a lector at the 7am mass on 9-14 and obviously will receive Communion; my children are coming to a later mass with me on that same day to observe the one year anniversary of my mothers death...can I receive the Eucharist again with them?
From the Code of Canon Law: “Can. 917. One who has received the blessed Eucharist may receive it again on the same day only within a eucharistic celebration in which that person participates.”
There is a limit of receiving twice in the same day (waived for those in danger of death: Canon 921 §2), and the second time must be with the context of “a eucharistic celebration,” that is, the Mass (also waived for those in danger of death). You will be fulfilling this stipulation.
The normal one-hour Eucharistic fast will apply for both Masses (Canon 919).
