:PSpeaking of people from LOUISIANA, as a University of Tennessee "Volunteers" fan, if I were a Roman Catholic, I would have to go to confession and confess the EVIL thoughts I have towards that state right now (Louisiana State beat Tennessee in the SEC Championship game)! :P ;)

As for our discussion, actually, it IS pertinant to this thread because we were discussing receiving in the Mass and about the various aspects of that!  :) So we were being perfectly angelic (um, except for my grousing about the LSU victory over Tennessee, of course)!  Also, being new to the forums, I am still finding my way around the "ocean" of threads and posts here and did not our Lord Jesus Christ advise us that we should love one another and be understanding especially with those who are "on the Journey Home" not to mention with residents of the great State of Louisiana and the LSU "Tiger" football team!  [He sweetly smiled]

To Becky above, I agree with the wise and holy man whom you knew that visitations by angels or visions of departed relatives are not important and I would feel that I should add except in the ways in which they may comfort us and help us to realize that God IS and that this life is not the end, that others have gone into His Kingdom and that we are, indeed, surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses at the Lord's table in church and in our daily lives. I do not go around talking about the incidents I mentioned. Mention of them in this forum is one of the very few times (once to a clergymember privately as I recall) I have mentioned them to anyone other than my wife or an immediate family member. I did write them with tears in my eyes, writing or talking about them, as the memory comes back, is still an awe inspiring memory to me and painful in the incident of the miscarriage which my wife and I suffered and in the memory of the death of my Grandmama and earthly father, my Dad.  I probably should not have shared them at all.  I apologize for doing so.

To Rick, the moderator, I am truly sorry if you felt that I was "getting off topic" again, I did not think that I was and did not mean to do so. I have come to feel that I really do not belong in these forums, for this and various other reasons, so I am leaving for good now.  I pray for God's blessings upon you all.  Please know that I will be like a "flying buttress", to borrow Churchill's  words, supporting the Roman Catholic Church from the outside.  See you in heaven someday.  Merry Christmas to you all.  Respectfully, Marshall

I am truly sorry that you took my comments personally.  It was not intended to be a rebuke.  I hope you will reconsider.  Your contributions here have been thought-provoking and valued.

Marshall, it is I who owe you an apology. I was insensitive and clumsy in my handling of this situation. Please forgive me.

Rick's suggestion made it clear that your contributions are enjoyed and appreciated and that he would like to see them continued. I should have taken the lead in beginning a new thread --bad manners on my part since I have been here longer and should have been a more gracious shepherdess to a gentleman from Virginia who has already blessed us with so many fine posts.

Perhaps after a night's rest, we can begin the new week with a thread in Fellowship Hall in the Fellowship Area. There is much less concern there about moving from one topic to another.

God bless you.
Becky

Becky, it is not you but ME who needs to apologize and I hereby do apologize. I am just going through a time, in my religious life, when some things have sort of "stung" me (not you, by any means, of course) and I have felt a bit "oversensitive".  I am grateful for your kind reply and and for your well thought out, kind answers to questions and comments.  The Roman Catholic Church is well blessed to have you as a member, in my humble opinion!  I might even admit the same about Cajun Rick even though LSU did knock Tennessee out of the SEC Championship!  :P Ma'am, again, thank you for your kind reply and, again, it was me who needed to apologize, not you, dear gracious Southern Lady!  I would be grateful for your kind prayers for me as I continue to try to determine which way the Lord would have me go in my spiritual pilgrimage.  Again, thank you so much!  And, I will be reading the threads and may comment from time to time.  Best wishes to you all for a merry Christmas and a happy new year! Thank you again!  May God bless you! Respectfully, Marshall

Dear Marshall,

This lady from Kentucky is very pleased indeed with the gallantry and humility of the gentleman from Virginia.  Remember me in your prayers, Marshall, that I may become what God would like me to be.

You are a blessing to all of us here and will certainly be in my prayers.

Waiting for you and your family on this side of the Tiber-- :)

Becky

You will feel vindicated when you see what they do to Ohio State!

And just to keep in harmony with the purpose of this forum - I sure do hope that the Notre Dame "Fighting Irish" football team has a much better season next year and that they attend Mass before each game!!! ;)

Great job, Marshall! If we keep working at it, maybe you and I can escape CajunRick's purgatory for off-topic folks, after all. :D

Off-topic posters do not go into purgatory.  We have a special dungeon reserved for them.  The problem with purgatory is that one goes from there to heaven.  With the dungeon, we have the option of sending them back!

And by the way, I'm sending myself to the dungeon for the night for this off-topic post.  :(

The real problem with the dungeon is the alligator in the toilet.....

I thought of some fairly good comebacks to CajunRick. ;)
Unlike CredoCatholic, though, I'm a chicken about an occasional walk on the wild side and want to avoid that dungeon.

Instead, I'll just say that I am rejoicing this morning to be blessed with the encouragement of folks like Marshall and Rick and others here on the CHNI Forum. One can only imagine the sweetness of the fellowship when the Lord hosts His heavenly banquet.

Which we may receive at every mass, which actually brings us back to topic!
