So, I'm quite confused...  I think it's my patron's feast day today, May 6th.  St. Dominic Savio.  But I had previously thought his feast day was March 9th.  And half of the resources on the internet say that his feast is still on March 9th.  But then some say that it's May 6th, previously March 9th.  And when I received my "Daily Gospel" in my e-mail this morning (ie just after midnight), it said it was his feast day.

So... yeah.  Any thoughts?

Yay.  That makes me happy-- now I get to celebrate.

Question, though...  when/why did they change his feast day?  I feel slightly ought of the loop, lol.

they have so many new saints they did a shuffle! i don't think it was random, i think they chose other days which were related to the Saint other than the day of death.

Rome has a calendar for the Universal Church, but each country can modify that calendar for use in a particular country.  Many of the saints who's feasts are during Lent have had their feasts moved to days when a mass in their honor can be more appropriately celebrated, as happened with St. Patrick and St. Joseph and even the Annunciation a couple of months ago.

I think there is a real effort on the part of the Church to make the feast days of "meaningful" saints more accessible, especially when it comes to saints whom young people can easily relate with, and I applaud the effort.
