I was visiting another city and saw this on a sign in front of a church. Is this just another name for a  Catholic Church or does it mean something completely different?

In Catholic usage, Sharon, it usually refers to a parish, although in a few cases I have seen it referring to a covenant community or an apostolate. “Faith community” is a euphemism of Protestant origin, so it is not a traditional term among Catholics. The idea behind it, as I understand, is to present the group it designates as inviting and open.
