If you've never investigated the rest of the CHN web site, be sure to check out the Conversion Stories accessible from the Home Page.

There are many incredible stories from people like Marcus Grodi, Scott Hahn, Patty Bonds, and Don and Ruth Newville.  There are many others.  Some of them have probably been on the same journey you now find yourself following, and many discovered the truth of the Catholic faith totally against their will!

I hope you'll take a few minutes browsing the rest of the CHN web site, especially the Conversion Stories.

My favorite conversion story at CHN -- and one I used to recommend often to Protestants I meet in the course of doing online apologetics -- is Fr. Brian Harrison's Logic and the Foundation of Protestantism.  I no longer recommend it because it's too difficult to read.  When CHN changed the format for its website a looooooong time ago, some of the conversion stories got jumbled -- at least that happened to Fr. Harrison's story and my own.  My story wound up with only one word in the middle of a line.  It's quite legible, but the flow is interrupted by the misplaced words.  Fr. Harrison's story requires shifting the left and right margins at every line, and most folks are not willing to make the effort.  So I quit recommending it, even though it's an exceptional argument for Catholicism.

I have, over the years, formally requested that someone at CHN fix Logic and the Foundation of Protestantism -- once by email, and the second time by snail mail, along with my donation.  Both requests were ignored.  I also recently told one of the mods on this forum about it.  He suggested the problem was my computer.  But it isn't.  Several people have told me about the difficulty, after I recommended that they read it.

So I'm taking this opportunity to tell you about it.  I would be very grateful if some kind soul at CHN would take a look at those conversion stories and fix any that need fixing.

I'm grateful to have my conversion story posted at CHN's website!  Thank you!

Peace be with you,

Jay Damien

It is pre-formatted so that it shows up fine at my resolution of 1024X768.  At a lower screen resolution you would indeed need to scroll back and forth from side to side, and it's rather long so that I can see it would be annoying.  I don't work for CHN and I'm a zillion miles from there, but I'll see what I can do.

I have not yet posted my so-called "conversion" story because it is so long, I have to edit it some more.  I am still not sure why The Lord wants me to be Catholic, but I am hoping to find out soon.  Even if I don't find out for sure, I do know that He gave me many signs and words of knowledge that led me to think I should be obedient to get confirmed in 2006.

Here are some related to The Blessed Sacrament:

On 19 March 2006, I saw (for about 21 minutes) the face of Jesus in The Blessed Sacrament in the monstrance during Adoration and the procession until we got to the front door under the floodlights of the church.  It looked like the face you see on the shroud of Turin, and that day we did stations, and a picture of the shroud of Turin was on the last page of the booklet we used for the prayers.

I was the only person in the congregation for a few of the daily Masses. The first time I got to serve as a lector, I read the same thing section of Isaiah that is noted that Jesus read in Luke 4:18 (the spirit of The Lord is upon me to preach the good news, liberty to the captives...).  I'm not sure if it was the same day, but during that time, I heard in my right ear (the side near The Blessed Sacrament in The Tabernacle) the following:   Lord says, "Aren't you glad this isn't Hebrew?" me:  "Lord, You are talking to me during Mass." Lord says, "I AM THE MASS!"   Then during the consecration, while I was kneeling (perhaps during Sanctus), I heard from The Lord, "THIS is My favorite re-enactment!"

I love the EWTN programme , Journey Home,   one particular  remarkable conversion story was  from a Jehovah's Witness, it was very interesting. Let's have more of them converting.

I have listened to most inspiring and interesting conversions.

I, myself  came over to the Catholic Church as I always had leanings towards Catholicism  from a very young age. So I finally did it , about  15 or so years ago and proud of it.  But I always kind of envy  cradle Catholics ,  as I often think I would have known more about my faith growing up with it.

:)

Gloria, it all depends on where one lives. Some dioceses are better than others when it comes to getting the young'ems to learn their catechism basics. I've only attended parochial schools when I was very young and didn't have much exposure to them after 4th grade. But college was a
different matter and you could tell that the dummying down was in full force before the Seventies began. I was shocked to find myself ahead of parochial kids on some key areas.

What threw me for a bigger loop was at a Sunday School class I taught at the Newman Center a little over 15 years ago when my handful of middle school kids didn't even know h ow to say the Our Father. The priest told me that they also hadn't taken their first confession before Communion because somebody in the chancery decided that too many kids were getting the bejeezus scared out of 'em.

And to think this happened and Fr. Corapi wasn't hearing the confessions!
(He's a wonderful leader and inspiration, but not a guy I'd even think of trying to pull some punches on sins with. He wouldn't miss a sin.)

Seriously, I go back to my first point: it's all local and how it's taught at the local level. The same faith, but not the same methods and certainly not the same results.
s.
