I don't know if you have all heard about the tragedy in Myanmar, but the death toll is already past 15,000.

I think prayers are certianly needed here.

Lord of the Powers be with these people, for in times of distress we have no other help but You.
Lord of the Powers, have mercy on Myanmar.

Lord of power, mercy and compassion, be with the suffering people of Myanmar and the thousands of other people who have also lost their lives in China earlier today. We also beseech your compassion and solace for the record number of families whose lives have been affected by this years' tornado season.
--------------
Just after composing this prayer, it suddenly dawned on me I was basically repeating almost word for word NBC's Brian Williams' same shell-shocked sentiments voiced when he opened his network's nightly news program.
Yes, we wonder, and are left asking questions like this in so many different ways, but I believe more and more that it all comes back to remembering Our Lord's promise that He makes all things new. He really does, no matter how easy it is for us to forget this within the midst of chaos, confusion, loss and utter exhaustion
Yes, let's all remember in our prayers tonight for many more nights to come, the plight of all victims of natural disasters and human blunders in the aftermath of these disasters.
