After nearly passing out Sunday morning I have spent the last week in the hospital.  More later but for the moment, I am still extremely weak and it will take me quite a while to get back to normal.

In addition to the obvious health concerns I have lost at least a week of work for which I will not be paid, and I am uninsured so I am dreading the bill.  The anxiety is worsening the problem.  Please keep me in prayer, especially at mass this weekend.

I'm very sorry to hear this, Rick. You'll certainly be in our prayers. We know the "uninsured" routine and anxieties very well. God has always provided for our needs (and I have a family of six). I'm pretty confident that He will take care of yours, too, since you are so devoted to teaching the faith and helping people to better live it.

Let's all keep Rick soaked in prayer, folks!

Good CajunRick, I am so sorry that you had this incident and had to be hospitalized. I had notice that you weren't on the forum lately and had lifted up prayers for you from time to time.  I hope that things are OK or at least much better!

I would respectfully suggest going to talk with your hospital's billing department and social services departments, tell them what your situation is and advise them that you are going to be limited in what you can pay.  Depending on your income, your state health department and state social services department may be able to help. Some hospitals will adjust the bill, greatly lowering it, and may write of some of it. There may be some grants you can obtain.  If it is heart related, it might be good to contact the heart association (can't remember their full and formal name right now - seems like it is the American Heart Associations) and ask if they could steer you to help. May God bless and heal you and provide for you!

Gotcha in my prayers Rick! I've had to pay a few unexpected visits to the local hospital this past decade. But I'm very concerned about the uninsured part of it all. That really puts some urgency to our prayers because of the stress the lack of  insurance can add and you don't need any more stress.

God's with you and you can count on that! He'll get you through!

Rick, my good friend. My prayers go up for you. I've wondered where you and you little buddy have been. I pray your recovery is swift and that your expenses will be paid. I know they can be expensive. My 6 hour stint in the ER a few weeks ago totaled over $6500. Thank God, I have insurance, so my costs are manageable.
I have a verse that has kept me going for years. I came from a family that was poor...and they still are. It's "My God shall supply all your needs, according to His riches in glory, by Christ Jesus." Phil. 4.19.
I've held onto that for over 40 years and God has not failed me yet. I know he will take care of you too, my friend.

God Bless
Rich

Rick, I had a feeling something was wrong when you went several days without posting. You know that I have personal experience of similar situations, and you can count on my prayers.

O Lord Almighty, the Healer of our souls and bodies, You Who put down and raise up, Who chastise and heal also; do You now, in Your great mercy, visit our brother Rick, who is sick. Stretch forth Your hand that is full of healing and health, and get him up from his  bed, and cure him of his illness. Put away from him the spirit of disease and of every malady, pain and fever to which he is bound; and if he has sins and transgressions, grant to him remission and forgiveness, in that You love mankind; supply his needs, his finances, and take care of this hospital bill, for you alone are merciful. Lord my God, pity Your creation, through the compassions of Your Only-Begotten Son, together with Your All-Holy, Good and Life-creating Spirit, with Whom You are blessed, both now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.

Rick, I was away for the weekend and just read this post.  I am sorry you are not well, and pray for your continued recovery and return to work as soon as possible.  Some members of my family are uninsured also, and even a bad cold can cut into their grocery and gas budget.  Hospitals are said to work with people in this type case, I would follow Marshall's advice and see if they will work with you.  God bless and keep you well. :praying:

Hi Rick. Hope you feel better soon. You are in my prayers. That sucks about the job situation, but I know it will all work out for your good in the end..

I pray above all for His peace in you right now and thank you for all the time and energy you put into things here and I'm sure in your sphere where you are. You are such a blessing.

:praying:
Anne
