This appeared in my email prayer list a little over a week or so ago. This evening one of my students asked me if I was aware of this news. I said yes, but I have not been able to locate any official details anywhere. HELP!

I am at this moment waiting for a private jet to take me to the Mayo
Clinic. I have been quite ill for over six months and the local
physicians can't solve the riddle. In addition, for the first time in
20 years I am not traveling at all in 2008.

Please pray that God's will be done in my current situation.

We shall pray for your parish and diocese, your Bishop and all of
your seminarians.

God bless you,

Fr. John Corapi

Recently on EWTN there was a live segment after one of Fr. Corapi's programs which alluded to his not being able to travel any more. I was puzzled but now this becomes clearer. :praying:

A brief internet search reveals no more info. than you have stated. Which is as it should be, people have a right to privacy.

The other priest that prayers were asked for is reported to have died March 14th. R.I.P.:praying:

I also heard that Father Corapi isn't traveling this year and that's why he started his Weekly Wisdom series on his website.  I would really appreciate it if you keep us posted if you hear any more about him and I will do likewise.  I watch his Weekly Wisdom every week when I can, so maybe there will be something on it.

Ask and ye shall receive...This notice just arrived in an email from Father Corapi. Rest assured I will be listening as soon as it becomes available.

March 29th: "Health, Sickness & the Cross"--Many of you have seen the mass emails and blogs going around about Father Corapi and his health conditions. Exclusive to Weekly Wisdom, Father Corapi will speak (from his own mouth!) about his current health. He expounds this topic by discussing the importance of keeping up on our own health as God told us in the 5th commandment. Father also tells us of the importance of trusting in God and uniting ourselves with Christ crucified when we face adverse health problems, or any other obstacle in life. "Do whatever is in your power to keep yourself healthy and well, but know when to let go, and let God."

Hello Jackie,

Here is the website to access Father's weekly wisdom:

           http://www.fathercorapi.com/wwschedule.aspx

Each episode appears on the website on Saturday and can be accessed for two weeks. They do not have an archive of previous episodes.

I hope you enjoy them as much as I.

I just viewed Weekly Wisdom from Father Corapi. The Mayo Clinic says he is suffering from hypoparathyroidism. The condition is caused by a tumor in his neck. He will be retuning to the clinic next week for surgery to have the tumor removed. They believe the tumor is not cancer.

He spent Holy Week at the Mayo Clinic. He has asked folks not to call the Mayo Clinic since they can not release any details. He said folks have been calling his office, ETWN and his diocese in Texas to inquire about his condition. He used this weeks Weekly Wisdom to update us with his condition as well as to use the experience as a teaching lesson on heath and wellness.

He looks and sounds good even though he has been sick for over 6 months.

Heavenly Father, physician of our souls and bodies, Who have sent Your only-begotten Son and our Lord Jesus Christ to heal every sickness and infirmity, visit and heal also Your servant Fr. Corapi from all physical and spiritual ailments through the grace of Your Christ. Grant him  patience in this sickness, strength of body and spirit, and recovery of health. Lord, You have taught us through Your word to pray for each other that we may be healed. I pray, heal Your servant Fr. Corapi and grant to him the gift of complete health. For You are the source of healing and to You I give glory, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.

Thank you.  I'm usually a week behind in watching Father Corapi's Weekly Wisdom.  Guess I'll have to be more diligent about when I watch it.l

Norm, thank-you for the information on Fr Corapi. Last year around this time Father was here for our parish retreat.  I have been watching his programs on EWTN for some time now. He's soo straight up and there is no mincing words about his preaching the word for the Church or the Catechism!!! BIG TIME love that about him. I will love his weekly wisdom and sincere thanks for passing it on to me.

Rose, may your prayer for Father be echoed in the Heavens.

One day a few weeks ago while watching EWTN Mass the priest announced that Fr. Corapi had been scheduled to do one of the live shows and that was changed because he was ill with cancer. So, they must have found the problem to be cancerous when he had surgery. We must keep him in prayer.

Father Corapi was on EWTN Bookmark today. Doug asked about his health and he said he does not have cancer. The Mayo Clinic knows he as a tumor on the parathyroid gland, but they can not find it. They have him on various drugs, including CPAP therapy for sleep apnea, but he is not fully recovered yet.

The show was shot at his new studeo in Montana. The same set he uses for his Weekly Wisdom series.

Norm,  what does parathyroid mean? I'm on the heavier side and Fr. Corapi's appears to be the exact opposite.

I have hypothyroid, first diagnosed over 40 years ago when I couldn't button my collar, treated with iodine, and followed by daily meds since. But some 15 years ago I came down with a form of it again with another goiter, that was cut out and found to have a slow growing cancer. (That's not a biggie with doctors, and I'm not worried if they aren't. Fifteen years and no problems since, so ...)

My prayers go out to him. Thankfully, it doesn't appear to be life threatening unless I'm terribly mistaken.

S.

Hi all. Here's a good website to explain all this and then some. http://www.webmd.com/cancer/tc/parathyroid-cancer-treatment-health-professional-information-nci-pdq-general-information

WebMD is a good site and can be trusted for basic info. I'm sure there are things on it that violate the church's teachings but still, scientifically speaking it contains good info.

Wikipedia also has a layman's terms explanation of the thyroid and parathyroid glands and some of their maladies...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parathyroid_gland

and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thyroid_gland

(of course, you can run into some not-so-accurate info on Wiki but this looks like what I remember from anatomy class a zillion years ago)
