Hi Everyone,
My wife has been diagnosed with Breast Cancer, Stage 2. Her name is Claudia.
I am in RCIA. My wife and I both went back to Church last July. I am so glad to be in Church at this time. We are receiving so much love and support from our pastor and all of those in our RCIA group.
She is going to require a mascectomy, and is scheduled for surgery next Friday, 2/1. After that, she will be out of work for at least 4 months undergoing chemotherapy. Please a prayer for her that she comes out of this OK, and please say a prayer for us, that we can get through this together. It will not be easy.
Thank you,
Gary

You will both be in our prayers. You say that you both returned but you are in RCIA. I hope your wife is able to be comforted by the sacraments, especially the Anointing of the Sick and the Eucharist. They can give great strength to overcome adversity of a physical, spiritual, and emotional nature.
May God bless your family with healing and loving support for what your wife is about to endure. Nothing worthwhile is ever easy, but with God's help you can work through it and come out stronger.

Hi Rick,
Thank you for your kind words. We were in our RCIA class on Monday, and when our priest found out about my wife, he gave her an annointing right in the class at the end. He also had everyone gather around and put their hands on my wife's forehead one by one and give a short blessing and/or prayer. It was so beautiful and we both were so touched by it.
I guess, even though I've never been Catholic, I am returning, because I've felt like a Catholic all my life. I feel so at home there. My wife was Catholic from birth, but went back with me; she hadn't gone for many years. We are both so glad we did. The strength and the support we are receiving has just been incredible.
Thank you again,
Gary

Gary,
In the past I was not one to ask a group of "strangers" to pray for me. However, two months ago when my retina detached for the second time I was terribly frightened going into surgery, so I went out on a limb and asked this group to pray for me. I have to say, I believe everyone's prayers and kind words of encouragement really gave me strength to endure the difficult recovery period (face down around the clock for four weeks). And yesterday when my regular ophthamologist saw the work the retina surgeon had done, he was pleasantly amazed at the result.
All this to say, tell Claudia she's in good hands with this group acting as prayer warriors! I for one will be happy to pass on the blessing given to me by praying for her now.

Gary,
I will be glad to place your wife's name on our prayer chain at church. I will of course pray for both of you myself. One prayer I have is that you will be given the strength to care for your wife during surgery and recovery. Take care of yourself also, so you can care for her! I know from personal experience that the Lord uses adversity in our lives to His good. As another forum member here, also suffering breast cancer said, if the Lord is using the suffering of cancer to draw her closer to Him because He loves her, then He must love her an awful lot, because the suffering is so great. She has been an inspiration to me, her forum name is Truthseeker and you may want to read what she has gone through with this. Anyway, God bless and keep you and your wife, you are in our prayers.

Gary,
Many of us here have walked through the sort of fires you and Claudia have now entered. We have some understanding of what you face. You are in my prayers.
God is faithful, even when we don't understand, even when we are afraid and feeling lonely or unable to cope. He is faithful.
Becky

| Gary, May almighty God give both you and your wife strength, patience hope, endurance, and love. May you be protected from all anxiety and from every evil. May He guide your wife's physicians and may their treatment be effective. Peace be with you today, tomorrow and forever through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Prayer is a conversation directly with God, being always with God, having one's soul united with Him and one's mind inseparable. A person becomes one with the angels and unites with them in perpetual praise and longing for God.
-St. Symeon of Thessaloniki
God has heard your prayers!
