I prayed a 9 day Novena for my son to be accepted for his job interview,
He waited about 2 weeks for the reply that he was not successful. :X
He has applied unsuccesfully for a few jobs now.
Kind of deflates ones faith .

God always answers prayers, but the answer is not always yes. I think of Garth Brooks' Unanswered Prayers. God wants the best for us, but God's view of what's best is not always the same as ours. Our vision is to a paycheck; God's is to eternity.
Keep praying. No one ever said a novena had to end after nine days.

Faith is not getting my own way, but accepting God’s way. One of the first requirements of prayer, and indeed of Christian life, is found in the Our Father: “Thy will be done.” God is the eternal Creator; I am the creature. Prayer should change me, not God.
Getting our first job is always hard. Turn-downs, it seems, are inevitable. But what God finally provides is worth the wait. Often it is better for us than our first choice; we can learn much from this. Everything in life can be an uplifting experience if we approach God in this manner.

Yes, Cajun, God wants the best for us, that surely includes , selfworth, go to Mass every week, praise God . being able to pay the bills and feed the kids etc.
It seems that non Christian folks out there don't have to pray, while they have good jobs, doing ok.
Thanks Lord

Yes, David, My son does not want all his own way, he just wants a chance at living life in a meanigful way. with a good steady job.
He ain't exactly asking for the moon, or to win the lottery.
Or to live a princely life of luxury.

Appearances are deceiving. Time does not last forever. God judges justly.
Wait for the LORD, and keep to his way, and he will exalt you to possess the land; you will look on the destruction of the wicked. I have seen a wicked man overbearing, and towering like a cedar of Lebanon. Again I passed by, and, lo, he was no more; though I sought him, he could not be found. (Psalm 37:34–36)
God bless you and your son.
David

But it's not what is presented to the outside world. It's what is in our heart. People who are blessed with material or worldly possesions may have unseen (to us) problems and testings. A friend of mine has all the material cushion anyone could want. A husband who loves and supports their family, and two special needs children. One has downs syndrome, her second is an autistic child who has other needs surrounding that. (I think she would be ok with me saying) Those children have bathroom issues, severe issues. It's not getting better as they get older. My family may live pay to pay and struggle to get ahead, but my children are healthy and we do not have to deal with anything remotely like that. I'll take my situation any time over her's, even with all it's worldly comforts.
Besides God may be preparing us for something in the future. We don't know what is ahead, only that we can trust Him to lead us and help us. As was pointed out, the help does not always come in the form we think it should, or the hour we think we need it.
God is in control of all. We need to let go of our needs and turn them over to God to provide for us.
{{{Hugs}}} I'm sorry ~life~ is so difficult for you and your's right now. It isn't God's fault, however. Please continue to pray and don't lose hope. I'll say a prayer for you to find peace in this mess as well.
Ali

I believe that the country song, which Rick mentioned above which says..." some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers" is true! There have been times, in the past, when I have applied for and prayed that I would get certain jobs. I did not get them and was sad, however, later, I learned things about them that made me VERY GLAD I had NOT gotten them! God was protecting me by not allowing me to get those jobs and I was so very grateful! I have also heard it said that sometimes God wants us to wait because, in some way, the waiting is good for us, helps us and also that God is, in the meantime, paving the way for us, preparing us for something much better. I have found that to be true as well!
I pray that God will bless and, at the right time, provide your son with a job which will be perfect for him and which he will love!

I pray your son has found gainful employment by now. The words to this song by came to mind as I read your post.
Our God is an awesome God, he reigns from heaven above, with wisdom, power and love, our God is an awesome God.

Thank you Pani Rose, and everyone who gave my son encouragement.
I did pray a 9 Day Novena To St. Jude for my son, and guess what
thanks to the intercessions of St. Jude he now has a good job.... even though it took a few more weeks, the Lord knew just what he was looking for !
In fact I did do a little more than 9 days. My son is very thankful and feels blessed by all your prayers , now he is in the working world again.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning , is now, and ever shall be , World without end.
Amen.
I won't forget how wonderful everyone has been here , in more ways than one.
Thank you.
