Almost four weeks ago I injured my shoulder to the point of not being able to fulfill my duties at work. My Doctor took put me on temporary leave for two weeks. I was finally able to go back to work on the second of this month. I was scheduled to go back on the 3rd of this month and about half way through my shift I was pulled into the office and was told that my services were no longer needed. I lost my job.
My wife is disabled and is trying to qualify for SSI due to some matters that we won't go into here. This process takes at least 3 to 6 months before you get a yea or nea on that matter.
I have not been able to pay rent or find a job. As of tomorrow 7/13/07 my landlord will be coming to my door for the rent and if I don't have it we are out. I called family to help us but they will not. I won't go into detail about that but we have no one to help us. You will not be seeing me post on this for some time because I cannot pay my internet bill which was due today.
My family and I will be soon living in a small van and we will most likely lose this too because I cannot pay the tags or insurance on it and it will be a matter of time before I will have to park it and it will be towed away.
I have my wife and a 14 year old son who needs a home to live in. The area that we live in has one of the highest unemployment rates in the Central valley here in California.
My wife and I know God will come through for us but we are just very stressed right now due to the fact that we will have to leave all of our stuff in the apartment because we cannot afford to rent a storage unit.
I don't want to sound bitter because I am not so please don't take the next statement wrong. We would go to our parish that we are not yet members of the RCC but on the path through RCIA, but we have gone to as many churches as we could to ask for help even the local RCC churches but we get sent to community outreach programs and even Welfare. This is not an option because my wife and I were on welfare when I was hit by a car and ran out that option because it took almost that long for me to fully recover and hold down a steady job.
We want your prayers and nothing more. I just wanted you all to know what we are facing at this time. My wife has never ever had to live on the street and because of her disability she would not do well in a woman's shelter. We need prayer and action.
I am a worker and can do a lot of things real well but because of my past many employers will not hire me because I have three misdemeanors on my record and they always say they just don't need me now. The job I did have took me almost a year to get and it was the boldness of my boss that went to bat for me that got me that job but because the company is publicly traded this matter was out of her hands.
I have lived on the streets for four years and can handle it but my wife has never even had to be there and with my having to be out looking for work I am not comfortable with leaving her or my son alone in the van.
My faith is really being challenged but I am not a quiter. I am a fighter and so is my family. Please seriously keep us up in prayer and if you know anyone in the Merced County Area I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks.

Oh Daniel
I'm so sorry for your very difficult time. I to will certainly lift you in prayer, and you wife & son also.
Please don't give up on help from the Catholic church, maybe you could drive to the next town and check on a bigger parish??
Do you have any family or maybe friends from your previous church relationships???
I wish I had some wonderful advise and could reach out to help you. I'll go pray for you tonight.
Lord, please help Daniel and his family in their time of great need. Amen
Betty

No family that can help. We are going to try again with our local parish and see what can be done. Past church relationships are not available. It is looking like we will have to divide up unitl I can find work somewhere. Unfortunately society tends to be very judgemental when it comes to our pasts. I have not done anything like felonies but because an employer sees three misdemeanors I never get any calls back. The other matter is one of not working on Sunday which is a commandment of God and breaking this commandment would be a mortal sin because it is one of the ten commandments.
I am looking into trying to get my own little computer business going since I do have the ability to build computers from scratch and have found some old computers and am currently putting them together to sell.
I know GOd will make a way, I am not going to give up on the faith no matter what. God is God and his promises are yes and aman.

Well, we went to our parish and were refered to Catholic Charities and they refered us to Community Action League who refered us to Salvation Army who cannot help us with our rent matter.
I am now very stressed but am not giving up. We need your continual prayers. Please pray for me especially for the ability to get over my frustration and the temptation to become bitter. We called my parents and explained to them the matter at hand and told them that we would be homeless unless we get help. The response was, "sorry to hear that".
It is very frustrating when you can't even go to your church for help because they send you somewhere else. So please pray for me because this is where I tend to allow this to really get to me.
My wife and I have been praying the Rosary and just trusting God. I know he will come through I just need a lot of prayer and grace at this time.

Catholicdan,
I shall be praying for you and your family at Mass tomorrow night. I wish I could do more, but know I shall place you and your family on my prayer chain at church. Please don't give up on God, and always trust in His will...
May God Bless you and your family.

I am so sorry. In the midst of my great trials (that grow ever greater as time passes), I can see that your trials are just as great.
I pray for your family, that God hold you and keep your faith strong, and that He release you from bitterness, and that He sets you on a path of secureness, both physically and spiritually. Amen.
Love, Laura
